The Crystal Palace” ballet tells a touching love story of Court Jesters. The action takes place in a Northern century ruled by a powerful and capricious Empress Anna.
“The Crystal palace” is the first ballet, whose music was written by Alexey Shor.
Composer Alexey Shor was born in the Ukraine in 1970, he emigrated to Israel in 1991, after three years to the USA. There he achieved his university education, defended a PhD in mathematics and for many years worked as a mathematician. He started composing in 2012, but his compositions immediately attracted the attention of the public and were performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls Wiener Musikverein, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Carnegy Hall, Kennedy Center /Washington/, the Big Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Kremlin Palace /Moscow/, Mariimsky Theater /Saint Petersburg/, the Concertgebouw /Amsterdam/, Gasteig /Munich/, Wigmore Hall /London/, Teatro Argentina /Rome/ and many others. Concerts with his music have been broadcast on MediciTV, Mezzo and Euronews. The music of Mr. Shor is presented on Fox Business News and the websites of Bloomberg News, New Yorker, Yahoo and Huffington Post. The overture to his ballet “The Crystal Palace” was performed at the 40th ceremony of the classical music awards Gramophone in London. In 2018 he was awarded the title Honorary Professor at the State Conservatory “Komitas” in Yerevan. In 2022 Mr. Shor was appointed the position of the first associate composer of the School Yehudi Menuhin.
