Prof. Dr. Gabriele Brandstetter was born in Munich, professor in theater studies and dance art. In 2005 she founded the Center for Study of Movement in the Institute for Theater Studies and the Master’s Program “Science for Dance Art’. The subject of her research are the history of and aesthetics of dance, theater and literature from the 18th century till nowadays, the virtuosity in art and culture, as well as the connection between body, image and movement. In 2011 she was awarded the Order of Merit of the German Federal Republic. She has been numerous times a guest to universities in the USA, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, Israel, Thailand, Morocco, India and a number of European capitals.
