Scenography Todor Demerov

Libretto/scenario: Rosen Mihaylov and Vesa Tonova
M like a Woman is an innermost journey of Rosen Mihaylov and Vesa Tonova, where their companions, scenic partners, rivals and competitors, are the soloists and the ensemble of the Stara Zagora State Opera. “M” in the general understanding is one of the most Male letters. M is = to a Man. However, “M” also has in itself encoded some of the most significant feminine embodiments in the complex image of a WOMAN. “M” for Mum/Mother, “M” for Miss, “M” for My dear/beloved, “M” for a Maiden, Virgin Mary, “M” for a Nun, “M” for a licentious woman/mean woman, Mary Magdalene… These embodiments are a small part of the thousands of roles which the contemporary woman plays. A woman who is expected to be entirely feminine and not so “feminine” a player in today’s world, functioning according to the “male” rules.
