The plot, inspired by the biblical epos, is full of the ardor for freedom.
The Stara Zagora Opera Theater presented for the first time outside the capital city the never withering work of the great Italian Maestro Giuseppe Verdi on 17 May 1967 with conductor Veselin Nenov, director Stoyan Velev and artist Petar Ruskov, choirmaster Bogdana Popova. Since then Nabucco has been part and parcel of the repertoire of the Stara Zagora State Opera. There followed the productions in 1982, 1995, 1997, 2001 and 2011.
