At the end of the 30s the Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev carried out an order by the Central Children’s Theater in Moscow for creating a symphonic work for children. Intrigued by the task, he completed it for 4 days, he himself writing the text of the storyteller as well. The premiere of “Peter and the Wolf” was on 2 May 1936, conducted by Prokofiev himself. Since then until now many famous musicians have been provoked to create their own interpretation of the work. The fact that the sound of the orchestra is addressed to children, that the work has a storyline, told by a reader, kindles the curiosity even of non-classical musicians and enthusiasm in the children’s audience.
