Emiliya Ivanova

Soprano
She was born in Ukraine. Until her sixth grade, she studied in Kharkiv. Her teacher Margarita Maldzhanska gave her the first impetus toward opera singing. Later on, she continued her education at the State Music Academy “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” – Sofia, tutored by Prof. Blagovesta Karnobatlova.
As a student, in 2008, she was entitled to a residence of one year at the Sofia Opera by the jury of the Competition “New Voices”. It was then that she also won the second prize at the Competition in Spoleto, Italy. There she attended the masterclasses with Renato Bruson, Sonia Ganassi, Bernadette Manca di Nissa, Teresa Berganza and others.
She debuted in Spoleto in the role of Gilda in “Rigoletto”. In 2009, she won the Competition in Bulgaria for participation in the BBC Cardiff Competition, where she reached the final. In 2010, she was a finalist at the Competition “Operalia” together with Sonya Yoncheva /who was the winner at this edition of the competition/. The final of the competition was at La Scala in Milan under the baton of Placido Domingo.
From 2010 to 2013, she was a soloist with the Opera in Bonn, Germany. She has given memorable performances on different opera stages in the Netherlands, Poland, Russia and Italy. In 2015, she participated in the first scenic presentation of “Dona nobis pacem” by Bach on the historical stage of the Bolshoi Theater, Moscow, director Vladimir Vasilev.
