Ognyan Draganov
Director of the Opera, director
He finished the Secondary Music School “Christina Morfova” – Stara Zagora with major subject “Trumpet”. He studied Opera Directing at the New Bulgarian University in the class of Prof. Vanya Bachvarova. He graduated from the State Music Academy “Pancho Vladigerov” Sofia – in the class of Pavel Gerdzhikov. He specialized under the guidance of Albert-Andre Lheureux at Opera du Rhin, Strasbourg.
In the period 1986 – 2002, he was consecutively second director, assistant director, director and vice-director at the Sofia Opera. He cooperated in the realization of spectacles on “Stage of the Centuries” – Veliko Tarnovo and “Opera in the Square” – Sofia.
In the period 2002 – 2013, he realized productions predominantly abroad: Romania, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, the Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Italy, Colombia and Russia, including the position of chief director of the Opera in Sarajevo (2008 – 2012), realizing more than 80 productions.
From 2013 to 2015 he was chief director of the Ruse State Opera, and since 2015 he has been director of the Stara Zagora State Opera.
