Petya Petrova

Mezzosoprano
She graduated in Opera Singing in the class of Associate Prof. Ivanka Ninova from the National Music Academy “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov”. She specialized under the guidance of Alexandrina Miltcheva and Bayasgalan Dashmyan. She continued her vocal development taught by Rockwell Blake, Montserrat Caballe, Dolora Zajick, and Elizabeth Norberg-Schulz.
She debuted on the stage of the Sofia Opera in the role of Rosina in the opera “The Barber of Seville’ by Rossini. She won the first prizes at the international competitions “Boris Christoff” in Sofia, “Sylvia Ghesti” in Luxembourg, “Francisco Vignas’ in Barcelona, “Talents and Masters” in Dobrich (1996).
She is soloist of the theaters in Hamburg, Munich and Berlin, Vienna, Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Bilbao, Coruna, Santiago de Chile and Covent Garden in London. She recorded together with Edita Gruberova, Kurt Moll and Adrianne Pieczonka an integral edition of the songs by Richard Strauss for “Nightingale” and the opera “The Strange Misunderstanding” by Rossini for “Naxos”.
Since 2018 she has been a member of the soloist team of the Stara Zagora State Opera.
