Nikolay Motsov

He graduated from the State Music Academy “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” in major subject “Opera Singing”, in the class of Prof. Ilka Popova, subsequently he became an assistant professor (2005), defended his PhD degree (2014) and acquired the academic position of “Associate Professor” (2016).
He won the first prize at the Competition “Svetoslav Obretenov”, the Grand Prix at the Competition “Parashkev Hadjiev”, the Grand Prix and Crystal Plaque of the “Union of the Bulgarian Composers” at the Competition “Lyubomir Pipkov”, as well as the second prize at the International Competition “Boris Christoff”.
He debuted in Ruse in “Requiem” by Mozart (1998). In the period 2004 – 2005, he was a scholarship-holder of the Foundation “CEE Musiktheater” of the Vienna State Opera, where he specialized under the guidance of Prof. Olivera Miljakovic.
He has worked in cooperation with Anna Tomowa-Sintow, Alexandrina Miltcheva, Elena Mosuc, Giuseppe Giacomini, Leo Nucci and others. He has guest-performed on the stages of all big opera theaters in Bulgaria and in the Netherlands, Germany, Russia, South Korea, the festivals in Soloturn (Switzerland), Palma de Mallorca (Spain) and Europalia (Belgium).
Since 2016 he has been a member of the Stara Zagora State Opera.
