He graduated from the National Music Academy “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” – Sofia (1993). As a student in 1992, he debuted at the Sofia Opera in the role of Don Basilio in “The Barber of Seville” by Rossini. In 1994, he got an appointment as a soloist of the Opera, and in 1996, he won the International Competition for Young Opera Singers “Boris Christoff”.
During the next few years he sang at the La Scala, Metropolitan, Covent Garden, Paris Opera de Bastille, Vienna State Opera, Teatro Colon, Liceo Barcelona, Real Madrid, as well as at the operas in Rome, Parma, Venice, Florence, Tokyo, Munich, Toulouse, Nice, Strasbourg, Tel Aviv, Geneva.
He has had concert participations at Carnegie Hall – New York, NHK – Tokyo, Concertgebouw – Amsterdam, Victoria Hall, as well as the festivals in Salzburg, Edinburgh and Bregenz.
He has worked with opera conductors Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, Zubin Metha, James Conlon, Edward Downs, Gustavo Dudamel, Vladimir Fedoseyev. He also has recorded with EMI, Nightingale, O.R.F., R.A.I.
